Direct Loans For Students -
The Direct Loan Program operated by the U.S. Government makes
loans directly to students and parents through their schools.
Federal loans allow students and parents to borrow 100% of the
cost of college at low interest rates. They are not dependent
on your income and not secured by personal assets.
Undergrads, grads and parents
can apply online for private direct loans for students. Most
students who are enrolled at least half-time may apply for a
Federal Stafford or Direct Loan. It's no surprise that the
federal government provides the largest percentage of student
loans because of the favourable interest rates and the fact
that many would not qualify for other types of student
loans.
Stafford Loans are available
subsidized or unsubsidized depending on your financial
circumstances. In the case of subsidized loan, the government
pays the interest right up to start of repayment. For
unsubsidized loans the student must pay all interest incurred
at all times.
Student Loans are also
available from most states and your bank.
